Drug Uses
Casodex is used for treatment of prostate cancer. Casodex is intended for use with other medicines. It may be used to treat conditions as determined by your doctor.

How Taken
Casodex may be taken with or without a meal. Take it with your other prostate cancer medicine at the same time each day. Consult your doctor regarding the dosage suitable for you.

Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Casodex, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, if you have liver disease, if you are a woman, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast–feeding. Do not use Casodex if you are pregnant. If you suspect that you could be pregnant, contact your doctor immediately. It is unknown if Casodex is excreted in breast milk. Do not breast–feed while taking Casodex. Some medicines may interact with Casodex; therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. Casodex may cause constipation or diarrhea. If you experience either constipation or diarrhea, ask your doctor or pharmacist to recommend a treatment for you. Lab tests, including liver function tests and prostate–specific antigen (PSA), may be required to monitor your progress. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to this medication. These patients may require a lower dosage or/ and special monitoring during treatment. Casodex is not recommended for use in children; safety and effectiveness have not been confirmed.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are- abnormal skin sensations; anxiety; arthritis; back pain; bone pain; breast growth or pain; bronchitis; constipation; decreased sexual ability; depression; diarrhea; dizziness; frequent urination; gas; hot flashes; impotence; increased cough; indigestion; infection; loss of bladder control; muscle weakness; nausea; pain; pelvic pain; rash; runny nose; sleeplessness; sore throat; sweating; urinary retention; weakness; weight change. Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately- allergic reactions (rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); chest pain; dark urine; difficulty breathing; flu–like symptoms; loss of appetite; muscle aches; nausea; pneumonia; stomach pain; tenderness of the right upper quadrant; tiredness; vomiting; yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Storage
Store Casodex at room temperature between 68 – 77 °F (20 –25 °C) in a tightly closed container, away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Casodex out of the reach of children.

Overdose
If overdose is suspected seek medical attention immediately.

More Information
Casodex may cause dizziness or lightheadedness. These effects may worsen if Casodex is taken with alcohol. Use Casodex with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to this drug. Follow the diet and exercise program given to you by your health care provider. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor. Allopurinol should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
